What happened in Chile

The night of July 15 was a milestone in the history of the Republic of Turkey. The traitors’ coup attempt that took place that night failed as a result of the resistance and valor of our people. In this process, we had many martyrs and they have a place in our hearts. Ultimately, we have woken up in a quite different Turkey. Most of the media organizations based in Western countries welcomed the coup attempt positively and trampled once again on all their values. They didn’t criticize the coup attempt after it had failed, and they haven’t uttered a word about the valor of our nation. In fact, it has been the other way around. They criticized the Turkish government and they went as far as to insult our heroic nation. The US government qualified the coup attempt as a Turkish uprising and they tried to legalize it. After the failure of the coup attempt, they made bold warnings in the direction of the observance of law in Turkey and the prevention of a witchhunt. It would be wrong to expect a different attitude from a country that is hosting the most treacherous organization’s leader and Turkey’s biggest traitor for the last 19 years. Most of the Western media organizations and the US government have tried to takeover the AKP government and oust Erdogan. Erdogan and the AK Party overcame the events of 17-25 December, the Gezi Park protests and the PKK terror attacks one by one and came through many elections victorious. External powers which are defined as superior minds by the United States want to get rid of Erdogan. In the end, they attempted a coup. We still need time to wholly understand what happened on July 15. But history is full of lessons and we have many lessons to learn from what happened in Chile in the 1970s.

A Coup Prepared by the CIA

“We are not proud of what happened in Chile during the 70s and what happened to President Allende. I cannot justify and explain the decisions and movements which were made in that time.’’ These words belong to Collin Powell who was the secretary of state in 2003. Chile had a developed democracy culture since the 1970s but many problems arose when Salvador Allende came into power as he was not backed by the US administration. The economy was turned upside down; politics received serious blows and the country was destabilized. After all, this military coup happened in 1973 and a bloody junta replaced the democratic institutions of the country. What actually happened in Chile? The USA, which was against the possibility of a leftist like Allende becoming president at the end of the 60 started to work against him. Edward Korry, the ambassador in Chile, said that ‘’We received a severe blow ‘’ and ‘’There is no hope for Chile.’ (Michael Rubin had said that the coup attempt is a hope for Turkey at 2 a.m.) The CIA forced President Frei to resign after an election victory and offered him a bride. These initiatives failed, however, and Allende became president. Thereupon, the CIA decided to intervene and carried into effect the “FUBELT project” in order to depose Allende. The CIA loomed over Chile like a nightmare. Sources corresponding to millions of dollars were transferred to Allende and the opposition politicians and media organizations. 1.5 million dollars were transferred to the newspaper Mercurio which had played an important role in the formations of a coup on September 11, 1973.

The Purpose Was To Control Chile

Politicians, media organizations and various aspects of the economy tried to corner Allende. Aid by external powers to Chile was cut after the pressure of the US government and the World Bank which was controlled by the USA. It suspended a 20-million dollar loan which was to be issued to Chile. Once more, the US government politically tried to corner the Chilean government in the international arena. Afterwards, Henry Kissinger, then United States national security advisor, said that the USA had to insert maximum pressure on Chile in order to prevent the consolidation of Allende’s government. Meanwhile, the USA tried to organize a military coup with the help of the CIA. They also tried to prepare suitable conditions for this. They were in contact with soldiers who would be able to stage a military coup. They had a central role and were prepared for the coup attempt. Consequently, a military coup took place in 1973 and President Allende was killed or committed suicide. Ultimately, a violent junta took over the government and this junta dominated and oppressed Chile for 17 years. The USA and CIA’s 3-year labor paid off and they handed over the country famous for its democracy to the hands of the junta. Nixon, then president of the USA, gave no money to democratic governments, but only to juntas. The economy of Chile, in the later years, had various economic crises due to some neo-liberal politics applied by the Chicago children. Nixon had given orders to the CIA to take down Allende and “make the Chilean economy scream.” In the end, the Chilean economy collapsed under the junta. The USA, which claims to be the precursor of democracy itself, spoiled this country by a bloody junta like they have done in many other countries. There are many differences between what happened in Chile and what happened in today’s Turkey. But God willing, Turkey is not Chile and it won’t be.
