With the July 15 coup attempt, there is now another unsuccessful military coup attempt in the history of Turkey. What differentiated this terrorist attack, organized by FETÖ/PDY against the national will, from previous ones was the planes and helicopters of the Air Forces that actively took place in the attack. Thus, F-16s and Sikorsky helicopters became symbols of the coup attempt as well as tanks.
The previous Air Forces Commander, in the first place, and some sections of the Air Forces, who were also affiliated with FETÖ, took control of planes and helicopters belonging to our nation and played a central role in the FETÖ coup attempt. This brought previous actions by the Air Forces into question, actions that now require further attention. Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu's helicopter crashing in a suspicious way on March 25, 2009; the bombing of civilians in Şırnak-Uludere on December 28, 2011; the crash of a Russian aircraft on November 24, 2015; and even the crash of the helicopter carrying soldiers coming back from bayram greetings with their families can be given as recent examples of suspicious actions.
Suspicions Are More than Just Presumptions
Such suspicions are not only presumptions. Clever and fair people who see those who bomb the nation's assembly, attack the elected president, unarmed and innocent people, the legitimate government and who see the security forces trying to protect all the above can see that coup plotters are willing to try everything to acquire power. Indeed, Turkish people already know from experience that these kind of unhealty mentalities are inclined to commit sensational murders and kill key figures just to create chaos. Suspicions related to these actions are not only presumptions.
It is known that one of the people who attacked the hotel the president was staying in Marmaris was arrested in the Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu case. This person was recorded detaching parts from Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu's helicopter and was accused of obfuscating evidence. However somehow, he was released. It is now being questioned whether this person who was a part of the execution squad that tried to assassinate the elected president also took place in other executions, and whether Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu was targeted in a similar way.
The Climax of Previous Coup Attempts
The latest coup attempt is the climax in a series of coup attempts against the AKP governments. When we look back we can see that in the period after the April 27 e-memorandum, the anti-Erdoğan fronts made some serious attempts Most of these were attempts to discredit Erdoğan and the AKP, which was identified with him, domestically and internationally. This seriously affected the international relations of Turkey. Especially the killing of civilians in Uludere and the crashing of the Russian aircraft with the planes of the Turkish Air Forces put the AKP government and Turkey in a difficult position internationally. At that time the prosecutor declared he would not proceed with the Uludere case any further by stating that these kinds of mistakes can be made with respect to military operations. However after the coup, we can see that it is possible these incidents may have been planned by those who wish to overthrow the government. Thus, they should definitely be analyzed again. It must be brought to light whether they were planned by the parallel terror organizations. In the situation we are in, no one can be sure whether the results that were reached reflect the truth or not. Recently, the most interesting incident involving Turkish Air Forces is the crashing of a Russian aircraft due to the violation of airspace. It is known that Turkey's domestic and international situation suffered because of the crisis faced with Russia after the crash of the aircraft. After this incident, who gave the order to bring down the Russian aircraft was questioned for a long time. However, there were no answers. The fact that our nation was bombed during the coup attempt raised the suspicions regarding the aircraft crisis faced with Russia again. Also, it was revealed that the pilot who brought down the aircraft was one of the coup plotters, and this reinforced the suspicions. As a result, how the decision to bring down the aircraft was taken and whether there was an attempt to put the Republic of Turkey in a difficult position will be in the agenda in the coming days. It is extremely important that these and similar incidents are reinvestigated after the coup attempt, especially for the ease of the public conscience.
